natalya bestemyanova & andrey bukin (ice dancing), world professional figure skating champions, winners of the favar award “for outstanding achievements in figure skating”, three-time ussr champions, five-time european champions, four-time world champions, 1988 calgary olympic champions.
the legendary and victorious duo "bestemyanova - bukin" was formed in 1977. the charismatic and rather eccentric couple of skaters was remembered by the audience for their performances to the music of ‘carmen’ by bizet and shchedrin and ‘prince igor’ by borodin, ‘rhapsody on a theme of paganini’ by rachmaninov, and to the soundtrack of charlie chaplin’s films and bob foss’s ‘cabaret’.
since 1989, natalia and andrey have been irreplaceable soloists of the bobrin ice theatre.
in 2001, co-authored with igor bobrin, they published a book “a couple of three”.
in 2018, the book “tango of our life. a couple of three” went out.
in 2019, natalya bestemyanova & andrey bukin were inducted into the world figure skating hall of fame, colorado springs, usa. induction into the hall of fame is the highest honor a figure skater can achieve.
